The 505DR is a standard dual redundant steam turbine control for turbine with a single or split-range steam control valves. Its design is intended to upgrade existing 505 controller that uses a multi-line display, but it can also be used to upgrade any other steam turbine control.
Specific steam turbine software algorithms are in place similar to the obsolete 505 controller. Automatic, semi-automatic and manual start-up logic can be configured together with many various control operation possibilities. Due to this it is suiteable for all steam turbine sizes and applications.
Additional features compared to old types of 505 controllers are: 3 critical speed avoidance bands, overspeed anticipation and shutdown protection, Sulfur-resistant conformal coating, real-time trend screens, trip and alarm event recorder, graphical operator interface screen, Ethernet interface with optional remote assistance support.
Each system comprises out of two 505DR units together with one 505DR FTM. The FTM is use to distribute simplex I/O to both controllers and duplex output into one output to the field. The operating principle is master/slave where the slave control will take over control when the master control fails.
