Gas Turbines
Controls platforms purpose built to accurately and reliably control and protect single or multiple rotor gas turbines of all sizes
Woodward gas turbine control platforms are purpose built to accurately and reliably control and protect single or multiple rotor gas turbines of all sizes. Each platform’s rigid deterministic performance and scalable I/O options make it ideal for challenging gas turbine applications. For improved accuracy and lower wiring costs, networked valves allow package simplification and a reduced total installed cost. As required, either hydraulic or electric powered actuators are available for variable stator vane and inlet guide vane position control.

Gas turbine valves
Woodward offers a broad line of gas turbine valves of all sizes and flows designed to accurately control gas and liquid fuel, water, steam, and air into and within the turbine package. Depending on the application, electric powered valves and actuators are available to allow turbine OEMs and owners to fully electrify their turbine packages and lower the risk of oil-based fires.
Gas Turbine Safety and Protection
Machinery Protection Standard API670 requires compressor safety systems be used on axial compressors and centrifugal compressors based on application criticality. Woodward is a leader in delivering safety systems for industrial turbomachinery that allow users to meet this standard.
Woodward’s SIL-3 certifiable safety systems reduce installation costs and allow users to meet today’s safety system requirements for small, medium, or large compressor applications.
Speed sensors
Rotating machinery requires speed sensing for rotor control, monitoring, and safety.
For industrial applications, it is recommended that standard API670 be referenced, as it includes application guidelines for speed sensors applied on rotating machinery, including steam turbines, gas turbines, turbo expanders, and variable-frequency drives. Compliance to functional safety standard IEC61508 is increasingly required in new and retrofit systems.
These speed sensors are designed for use in SIL-3, SIL-2, or SIL-1 (safety integrity level) rated turbine or engine safety systems.
